Recreation Associate II - Extracurricular Engagement

Job Summary:
The Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is seeking a highly motivated individual to build a city-wide support network around district sponsored athletic and extracurricular activities. Primary duties include working with local schools to expand athletic offerings, and assisting with player, coach and volunteer recruitment

Salary Range: The salary range is $47,968-69,558

- Bachelorís Degree required from an accredited college or university in recreation management, athletic administration, sports management, education, or related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year full-time experience, or equivalent in sports promotion/marketing, after school programming, planning and implementing athletic programs, managing athletic events and/or athletic facilities, coaching, etc.
- Experience delivering services in an urban environment preferred.
- Valid driverís license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Wisconsin.

- Assist schools with efforts to initiate and/or expand extracurricular and athletic offerings to ensure equitable access for all youth.
- Assist schools with player and coach recruitment and training to ensure delivery of positive experiences for all participants.
- Lead efforts associated with MPSí strategic objective to redefine the MPS Experience for athletics and extracurricular.
- Oversee data tracking of youth participation in extracurricular activities.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of extracurricular programs to measure program quality.
- Increase the overall profile of MPS sponsored athletics through marketing and branding efforts.
- Meet regularly with Sports Coordinators and Athletic Directors to identify gaps in service delivery.
- Build out fan engagement and work with Alumni groups to generate excitement around district sponsored athletic programs.
- Lead efforts to develop and launch a comprehensive fundraising plan to support long term extracurricular/athletic needs.
- Garner support to make MPS a national leader of youth athletic programs.
- Develop Athletic Advisory committee by sport to identify needs associated with player development, coaches training, and athlete recruitment.
- Establish partnerships with other MPS departments, schools, governmental units, agencies, and community-based organizations to develop quality extracurricular programs throughout the district.
- Assist with Recreation Department activities as needed.
- Serve on various community or employee committees as required and assigned.
- Support the Milwaukee Public.
