Milwaukee Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):
School Psychologist
Location: Central Services Building
Regular/Temporary: Regular
Job Summary:
Milwaukee Public Schools School Psychologists serve a diverse student population in a variety of school settings (traditional, Montessori, language immersion, IB, charter, magnet). We have a variety of assignments such as a centralized evaluation team, school based assignments and non-traditional services. Our 150 school psychologists offer direct services at the prevention, intervention, and supportive levels to both regular education and special education students. Numerous professional development and collaboration opportunities are provided.
Responsibilities:
Mandated Activities:
Building Coordination - receiving and processing special education referrals
IEP Team responsibilities - (assessment of students, adding information in the IEP team comprehensive report to SSIMS, Participataion in IEP Team meeting)
Mandated psycho educational therapy
Section 504/ADA Activities (initial evaluation of students, yearly re-evaluations)
If your school hs the Health Initiative- serving as a member of that team and providing mental health services to students
If your school has EBD MRP classroom support - providing support to that teacher and classroom.
Other Responsibilities:
CST (Collaborative Support Team), RTI (Response to Intervention), Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) TEam Facilitator/Team Participant
Paticipation in Functional Behavioral Assessments( FBA's)
Non-SEN assessment of student and preparation of a non-SEN report
Conferences with teacher and parents to share non-SEN results
Consultaion with teachers
Consultation with parents
Parent conferences (in conjunction with administrators)
Communication with community mental health agencies and other agencies providing services to students
Classroom presentations on various topics such as respecting others, developing frienship skills, learning to handle conflicts in a non violent way, i.e., Second Step, Talking about Touching, etc.
Life Skills Training (middle school level)
Crisis Intervention (suicide threats and other mental health issues)
Plan and facilitate school-wide incentive programs
Ropes and Challenges activities
In-Service presentation to school staff members
Non-SEN psycho educational therapy (individual & group)
Collaboration with teachers on intervention planning and monitoring (academic and/or behavioral concerns)
Pay Range: The salary range is $55,303 - $84,243 (200 days)
