Milwaukee Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Itinerant Special Education Teacher (Partnership Schools)

Location: Central Services Building

Regular/Temporary: Regular

Job Summary:
Provide services to students with special education needs enrolled in MPS Charter and Contracted schools Services. Responsible for implementing services based on individual students IEP's.

Qualifications:
- A current 5 year or lifetime license for Special Education (#801, 810, 811, or 830) for grades 6-12, 9-12, or K-12 issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI)
- Master's Degree preferred
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience as a fully licensed certified special education teacher

Responsibilities:
- Assist regular education teachers in supporting students with special education needs within the school setting
- Maintain ongoing contact with the school staff and parents to assist them in the development of a realistic understanding of their child's abilities, progress and future goals
- Share resources and educational information with school staff and parents concerning students with special education needs
- Assist in the modification and adaptation of instruction and curriculum materials to meet the students needs
- Provide direct instruction to students and consult with classroom teachers as indicated in student's individual education plan (IEP)
- Participate in in the development and implementation of the individual education plan (IEP) for each student
- Responsible for ongoing assessment and program planning as it pertains to the student's IEP and be the IEP chairperson for the student's annual IEP's
