Green Bay Area Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Teacher of Academically Gifted Students

Location: Leonardo da Vinci School for Gifted Learners

The Green Bay Public School District is pleased to accept applicants for an Elementary/Middle Level Gifted and Talented Grades 1-8 Teacher at Leonardo da Vinci School for Gifted Learners beginning with the 2017-18 school year. Leonardo da Vinci School is a K-8 education customization option for academically gifted learners located in downtown Green Bay. The school provides the appropriate level of challenge in a rigorous, student-centered and diverse learning environment that prepares learners to be world leaders. The school is seeking high energy, dedicated educators who have a desire to work with gifted learners in a collaborative team atmosphere focused on student growth. Position Purpose:
Teachers interested in a position at Leonardo da Vinci School should have a strong desire to work with academically gifted students. Teachers in these positions will work with students in grades K-8 based on groupings that reflect academic need, not grade identification. They will work closely with the GT Resource Teacher and building principal to develop an instructional program that reflects the National Association For Gifted Children’s programming standards.

Qualifications Required: WI DPI certification at the appropriate grade level and/or content, grades 1-8

Qualifications Desired:
Education: Coursework or degree in gifted education

Essential Functions:
In addition to classroom teacher essential functions, essential functions for this position include:
1. Uses and interprets formative and summative assessment information to develop unit plans, daily lessons and individual instruction that promotes student academic, social and emotional growth.
2. Designs units and differentiated instruction that incorporates advanced, conceptually challenging, in-depth, distinctive and complex content for academically gifted students.
3. Paces instruction based on the needs of students, accelerating and compacting the curriculum as appropriate.
4. Provides opportunities for students to explore, develop and research their areas of interests.
5. Integrates career exploration.
6. Understands the needs of gifted students including the need for social/emotional development and support.
7. Integrates technology on a daily basis and extends learning beyond the traditional school walls.
8. Collaborates frequently with other Leonardo da Vinci instructors, the GT Resource Teacher and the building principal to monitor adherence to program vision and beliefs.
9. Contributes to the development and implementation of the school improvement plan.
10. Participates in ongoing professional development so as to provide the appropriate level of academic challenge for students while nurturing the social/emotional needs of gifted children.
11. Communicates with parents/guardians frequently and professionally.
12. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
