* Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Masters degree in psychology and a one-year internship in school psychology.

Description:
Performs difficult professional work performing psycho-educational assessments of individual students, including an assessment and interpretation of the student's intellectual, social, and emotional development; adapts psycho-educational concepts, methods and materials in designing programs and strategies intended to facilitate the total learning environment; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision.

- Performs psycho-educational assessments of students, assesses and interprets intellectual, social and/or emotional development; conducts consultations; prepares and maintains files and records.
- Ensures proper case management creating and maintaining a complete and comprehensive file of information of the referenced student to include data such as the written assessment, referral forms, parent conference reports, progress reports, sociological, medical, hearing and educational assessment;
- Screens and previews referrals assigned, schedules and conducts evaluations;
- Completes individual psycho-educational assessments;
- Completes written reports to be sent to the schools, parents and other agencies including an interpretation of the results of the assessments;
- Participates in special education operations and decision making, provides educational strategies as required;
- Conducts parent/school consultations and conferences, including recommendations for the child's school program and/or home environment;
- Acts as liaison with community agencies and resources;
- Staffs and serves on various teams and committees including the Child Study Team and the Special Education Eligibility Committee;
- Confers with public and private agencies as a means of gaining or sharing information regarding students or programs;
- Prepares and submits departmental budget to Special Education Coordinator;
- Performs related tasks as required.
- Assisting the school librarian in the operation of the media center; assisting teachers and students in the full use of library services.
- Operates specialized computer system for circulating media center materials;
- Staffs circulation desk; assists with book selection; charges and discharges books;
- Assists students with location and use of media center materials;
- Maintains magazine and newspaper files and records;
- Assists in controlling status of books in circulation; checks on overdue books;
- Generates overdue and other computerized reports;
- Shelves returned books; replaces incorrectly shelved books; labels and mends books;
- Types and/or proofreads catalog card sets, book labels and pockets, letters, book orders, and other materials, keeps, updates, and corrects card files; compiles circulation and other statistics and prepares other reports;
- Circulates media center equipment and materials; operates media center equipment;
- Assists with bulletin board displays;
- Assists with inventory of all media center materials;
- Maintains computerized records;
- Processes ERC and state films and distributes to faculty;
- Receives telephone calls and walk in patrons; provides information and assistance or directs to appropriate staff member;
- Prepares general correspondence, schedules, newsletters, purchase orders, files, and records;
- Performs related tasks as required.

Other Information:
Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the special education process for diagnostic and evaluative procedures; comprehensive knowledge of federal and state mandates and school procedures and regulations, relating to special educational programs; excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to work with and through other school personnel, parents and community agencies. Completion of one-year internship in school psychology.

Possession of or ability to acquire appropriate license(s), certificate(s), and/or endorsement(s) for position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board.
