A Passion for Success
The Irving Independent School District offers more than 33,000 students an exciting education and a chance to succeed. With enthusiastic teaching and pride in the character of its students, Irving ISD is infusing today’s learners with the passion and ability to become tomorrow’s leaders. A well-planned instructional program, including 2,300 teachers and a myriad of extracurricular choices, gives students from all cultural, economic and educational backgrounds opportunities to experience the thrill of achievement…a chance to develop a passion for success.
Iriving ISD students consistently bring distinction to the District through their accomplishments in academics, career and technology, gifted and talented, performing arts, special education, athletics and JROTC programs. Graduating seniors in the Class of 2006 from Irving, MacArthur and Nimitz High Schools and The Academy of Irving ISD earned $39.9 million in scholarship offers.
Students have access to computer technology through numerous classroom computers, computer labs and mobile multimedia stations. As part of the $249.5 million School Bond Package approved by the voters in October 2001, $54 million is being used to fund a five-year instructional technology plan that includes a computing device for every student in grades 3-12, updating the IISD Network, and providing technology for new schools and facilities.
Nationally recognized as Best in the Nation in 1991 and 2000, the District’s library program features The Library Solution automated library system that includes more than 791,000 items. School libraries also provide Internet access to a variety of research databases.
The Irving ISD includes 48.5 square miles within the City of Irving and is located in the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is just west of the Irving ISD.
