The Wilson County School System serves approximately 12,000 students in kindergarten through adult education. Eight elementary schools, three elementary/junior high schools, one junior high school, one junior/senior high school, two high schools, one vocational center, one adult high school, and an adult basic education program make up the 18 sites.
The Wilson County Schools are committed to excel in all areas of education. The system strives to obtain the best teachers and administrators possible. Of the 840 people employed in positions that require state certification, 366 or approximately 44 percent, have attained an educational degree at the Masters level or higher. We have 101 certified employees or about 12 percent who have achieved career ladder status of two or three. All schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The administration of Wilson County Schools has lowered pupil-teacher ratios, increased the number of teaching assistants, increased the number of counselors and has added school nurses as a way of providing better service to the students of Wilson County.
