The Catholic School Office in the Diocese of Providence represents 49 Catholic elementary and nine secondary schools throughout the state of Rhode Island. We enroll 18,600 students in grades Pre-K to 12 and employ about 1,400 teachers and administrators. Catholic school principals and teachers accept their work as more than a job or career – it is a ministry of God and the Church to which they commit themselves. Joined together in a community of faith, they challenge their students to embrace the Gospel values of faith in God, prayer and service, love and respect for self and others, compassion and responsibility, dignity and integrity, peace and justice. Catholic schools emphasize a rigorous core curriculum that stimulates students to question, evaluate, discover and create. Students encounter a broad variety of learning experiences that begin in the classroom with a blend of traditional and innovative techniques and methods. These experiences foster understanding, effective study habits, and the ability to apply ideas constructively. This integration of religious values and excellent academics enables the student to grow as a whole person – mind, body and spirit. It is this singular approach to education that distinguishes Catholic schools from all others.
