Central Bucks is an acknowledged leader in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development. The third largest
and fastest growing district in Pennsylvania, CB is accommodating over 600 new students each year without ever losing its focus
on student learning. PSSA scores are outstanding. District teachers are selected as state Teachers of the Year in a variety of
curriculum areas. Twenty-six teachers have earned certification from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.
Superintendent N. Robert Laws was named 2001 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year.
Academic program emphasizes best instructional practices, including standards-based classrooms, portfolios, study of student work, hands-on activities, problem-solving strategies, essential questions, integration of technology, middle school teams, high school block scheduling, and performance assessments. Core curriculum is focused, district-wide, and includes secondary honorslevel
courses and seventeen AP courses. District offers Latin and five years of French, German, and Spanish. Computer instruction
begins at fourth grade.
New teachers are provided with mentors and a comprehensive induction program. State of the art professional development workshops and academies are offered during the school year and summer months by staff development facilitators, including
a technology facilitator. Workshops include Essential Elements of Instruction, Cooperative Learning, Dimensions of Learning, The Writing Process, Performance Assessments, and computer applications. Follow-up and coaching are an essential part of the program.

Central Bucks School District covers 123 square miles and includes fourteen elementary, five middle, and two high schools.
A third high school and the fifteenth elementary are scheduled to open in 2004. Located in the heart of picturesque Bucks County, the district is 35 miles from Philadelphia and is convenient to many graduate school programs.
