One of 613 school districts in the State of Ohio, Mason City Schools educates approximately 10,700 students in grades pre-K through 12.The southwest Ohio district serves a 25 square mile area located approximately 22 miles northeast of downtown Cincinnati and 30 miles south of downtown Dayton.
Students in Mason City Schools learn in grade-specific buildings. Mason City Schools currently has an early childhood center (pre-k, k, 1), two elementary schools (2-3), an intermediate campus (4-6), a middle school (7-8) and high school (9-12).
Excellent and Efficient
Mason City Schools is an "Excellent" district, and has been for eight consecutive administrations of the Ohio Report Card. The district earned 30/30 standards on the State's 2006-2007 Report Card. We rank fourth in the state for overall student performance, and have met Annual Yearly Progress for every subgroup in every school, and as a district.
Mason spends less than the state average, which translates into being $1.9 million more efficient per year. The district’s cost per pupil per performance index point is $84.61—$18 less per point than the state average.
Moody’s Investor Service upgraded the Mason City Schools’ bond rating to Aa1 for construction bonds for the high school addition that voters approved on May 8, 2007. Mason is one of only five Ohio school districts who have an Aa1 rating or equivalent.
There is an average of 22 students per teacher in the district (K-12). There are 2.6 students per computer in the district.

We're Proud of Our Accomplishments
One of Ohio’s fastest growing school districts, Mason City Schools currently enrolls an average of 580 new students a year. At the end of the 2009-2010 school year, the district projects an enrollment of 11,010 students.
Over 10,000 students currently attend our early childhood center (pre-K-1), two elementary schools (2-3), an intermediate campus (4-6), a middle school (7-8) and Mason High School (9-12).
A brand new Mason Early Childhood Center educating more than 1,800 pre-kindergartners, kindergartners and first grade students opened in September 2006. The district opened a new 2,700-student high school and adjoining community recreation center in 2002.
Mason City Schools scored a perfect 30 out of 30 standards on the 2006-2007 Ohio Report Card. We are ranked 4th in the state out of more than 600 districts for overall academic performance.
District achieved an “Excellent” rating on the Ohio Report card eight consecutive years, one of only seven Ohio districts to do so.
