Livingston, a suburban town of approximately 26,000 people, is located in Essex County, northern New Jersey. The Livingston school district contains six elementary schools, grades K-5; one middle school for grade 6 and another middle school for grades 7 and 8, and one 9-12 high school. In December, 2003 there were 5136 students enrolled in the Livingston public schools.

In 1998 Livingston High School received the Blue Ribbon Award, the highest honor that an American school can achieve, from the U.S. Department of Education.
