Message from the Superintendent
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Quitman School District web page. I hope that the information will be helpful to each of you as you browse through the various segments included here.
As the district moves through a transitional period with the retirement of our former Superintendent, Dr. Charles Shepherd, we will ensure the public is informed of the steps being taken by the School Board as they proceed through the hiring process. I have been appointed as Interim Superintendent for the 2005-2006 school year and look forward to the opportunities we have before us this year!
As we move forward this year, I am asking you to join us in creating a school system in which ALL children not only become successful learners, but also embrace learning as a joyful, lifelong activity. Our schools have a long history of excellence. We take pride in providing rich, challenging and nurturing learning environments for our students.
I hope that you will take an active role in this community committed to learning. We need your participation, your input, your ideas and your prayers. Our vision for this year places a high priority on quality classroom teaching and learning. Our teachers will guide students in how to learn and lead them to be independent thinkers. In addition, they will model and inspire the personal responsibility, respect, honesty, caring and cultural sensitivity essential for children to thrive in a diverse society. We hope our district is characterized by a spirit of cooperation and respect which instills in everyone a sense of family.
As a district, we must meet the challenges before us for closing the achievement gap, address state and federal achievement mandates, and provides a safe and orderly school system. While doing this, we will never forget that how we educate our children is a measure of our integrity and vitality as a community.
We are proud of the achievement and progress we are making. Your interest and involvement in our district are encouraged and valued. We hope that you will use our web site to find out more about our district, our schools and our students. Please use the site also to give us feedback as we strive to continue to improve the contents of the web page so that we always provide valuable communication with you.
