Jackson Public Schools are looking for qualified applicants for the following position:
Position: JROTC (NCO) Instructor
Location: JROTC Main Office
Mentors and provides leadership, technical advice and administrative guidance and instructions regarding programs, objectives, policies, procedures, course of action, problem solving and coordination of administrative activities for seven JROTC Battalions.
Identifies training and development needs, establishes training plans, and provides formal and informal training as required.
Initiates various requests for operational actions such as transportation, meals, lodging and training/events locations. Assist and advise the Director of Army Instructions (DAI) as it relates to Army Instructors performance, such as awards and disciplinary actions.
Receives and attempts to resolve complaints and grievances on an informal basis; effects minor disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands; and recommends disciplinary actions in more serious cases. Assist the DAI with the interview and select process for vacant positions.
Plans and assigns non-routine work (JPS requested assistance, color guard, etc.), sets priorities and schedules the completion of special projects; cross assigns and levels workload based on priorities, existing projects, and selective consideration of the difficulty of assignments and capabilities of employees. Enforces timeliness, quality, procedural, policy, and regulatory requirements.
Serves as the facility manager.
Coordinates with the appropriate department to ensure the physical security, cleanliness and maintenance of the DAI building.
Ensure that the chain of command board, cadet staff, instructor staff and cadet action photographs are current. Manages the Weight Control Program.
Monitors and plans instructorsí mandatory training requirements to ensure JPS JROTC Instructors are current. Order instructional materials and required publications. Overall responsible for reviewing, revising, publishing and executing the JPS JROTC Handbook.
Overall responsible for the publication of the Yearly Training Calendar.
Overall responsible for the wear and appearance of the cadets and instructors uniforms.
Assist the DAI with the implementation and execution of the JROTC Program of Accreditation.
Responsible for the distribution and filing of DAI JPA results.
Provides leadership, guidance, training and mentorship in order to meet the DAI intent in the execution of JPS JROTC activities, ceremony and special events to include but not limited to Cadet of the Year Competition/Award Ceremony, Drill, Cadet Challenge and Academic Challenge Competitions, Cadet Review Ceremony, Consolidated ATU Outings, IHL Visits and other field trips. Plans JROTC Instructor Professional Development training.
Must be a recently retired (within the past two years) U.S. Army NCO in the grade of E-8 or E-9, or a currently employed Army JROTC instructor in the grade of E-8 or E-9.
Must meet U.S. Army Cadet Command requirements for instructor certification
