Welcome to the Chickasaw County School District's website. Houlka Attendance Center is the only school in the Chickasaw County School District. Approximately 2,900 residents live in the school district. The school serves 540 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 on one campus in the town of Houlka, Mississippi. The racial population of the school is approximately 49% white, 49% black, and 2% Hispanic. Seventy-two (72) percent of the students receive free or reduced meals. Title I funds provide a full-time program for eligible 4 year old at-risk pre-school students. The school has forty (40) certified teachers with a full-time school counselor and full-time school librarian. The Region III Mental Health Center provides a full-time support therapist and part-time case manager for eligible students. The school's parent liaison is located in the parent center (Grandma's Attic) and conducts parent training several nights weekly and one Saturday monthly. The school also operates a Power-Up computer lab that is open several nights weekly for community technology training. An AmeriCorp volunteer facilitates this lab. In a partnership with Itawamba Community College, the district operates a GED program two nights weekly.
