Founded in 1963, Crowder was established as a Community College serving
Newton and McDonald Counties occupying Fort Crowder, a World War II military
training facility. Displays and artifacts from the days of Camp Crowder are available
on the Crowder College campus today.
The first class of 361 students walked the halls of Crowder College in September of
1964. Assuredly, those 361 students were embraced by a loving and knowledgeable
staff, just as students are today. The term “Crowder Family” is not only used, but felt
