Detroit Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Day Trade - Electrical/Electronic Equip Installation Repair Teacher **To Establish an Eligibility Pool***

Location: Various School Locations

Regular/Temporary: Regular

Salary Range: DFT Schedule

Benefits Eligibility: Successful candidates will be eligible for medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage, as well as illness days.

Reports to: Principal

Required: Bachelorís degree and valid Michigan Interim Occupation Education, Occupation Education Certificate, or Full Vocational Authorization appropriate for the vocational content of the teaching assignment. Valid License(s) required by the industry.

Additional salary credit for a Masterís degree from a regionally accredited institution.

In the event that there is no successful candidate available who holds a valid Michigan (Interim) Occupation Education Certificate, candidates with at least a High School diploma and relevant industry work experience will be considered: 8,000 total hours of documented experience, 4000 hours of which must be in six years immediately preceding date of application/appointment.

Maintain current Electricianís license in State of Michigan or a Post-Secondary School Certification, or Apprenticeship training.

Experience in electrical field with emphasis in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring applications.

Candidates must possess an understanding of electrical concepts, principles, and troubleshooting.

Ability to read blueprints or schematic drawings

Flexibility and willingness to learn and accept changes in job duties

PLC and Automation Control experience preferred

Ability to demonstrate knowledge of electrical and motor theory, wiring applications

Must have experience with repair, installations, replacement, and testing of electrical circuits

Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.

Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.

Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.

Physical Condition:
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.

Duties/Responsibilities & Functions:
The Electrical Instructor is responsible for delivering instruction for an Electrical program that includes, but is not limited to, electrical principles, residential wiring, commercial and/or industrial applications.

Prepares class syllabus, outline and daily lesson plans as required. Provides course syllabus and outline to students on the first day of class. Maintains and ensures consistency between the course catalog and the daily lesson plans.

Prepares and administers examinations, student projects, and other teaching aids needed to fulfill objectives of program. Sets up classroom, lab, equipment, projects, assignments, etc. in preparation for each new phase or class start.

Maintains accurate records of attendance, grades, progress of students, and reports the same in a timely manner to manager.

Maintains clean, effective, and professional learning environment.

Attends all scheduled in-service activities, meetings, and completes all scheduled/assigned activities in support of individual educational development plan.

Ability to complete accurate requisitions for grant funded equipment and materials

Tutors and academic conferences with students.

Maintains discipline and enforces school rules and regulations.

Assists with library research needs, and information gathering and makes textbooks recommendations.

Willingness to participate in school committees and school events.

Regular and consistent attendance.
