Summary of Position:
The candidate is a member of the Organizational Learning team and reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Organizational Learning. The Director of Professional Learning is responsible for professional development services and learning experiences that support GRPS’ Professional Development Plan aligned with the Academic Plan and Transformation Plan. The Director of Professional Learning is responsible for assessing academic staff professional learning needs, developing professional development programs to address those needs and evaluating current and future programs to meet the needs of school based staff in order to achieve the District goal of increasing student learning and success.

Essential Job Functions:
Creates and implements the vision, goals, and plans for academic staff professional learning
- Leads a cross functional team to work closely with school administrators to implement a professional learning strategic vision and system that is sustainable for academic staff.
- Leads the implementation of the Professional Learning Plan and programmatic improvements aligned with GRPS’ Academic Plan.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders at GRPS University, across the district including assistant superintendents, executive directors, school based administrators, curriculum specialists, teachers, etc. to lead the design of data analyses to measure the impact of professional development and ensure a continuous improvement process.

Implement and adapt the Professional Learning structures and processes to support on-going learning
- Lead teams at the district and school level in the continued innovation and implementation of learning cycles that include job-embedded and on-line learning.
- Regularly visit schools, classrooms, PLCs, and professional development sessions, etc. to observe the work and learning of participants and facilitators, evaluate the implementation of the learning, and ensure schools are getting the support and resources needed to be successful.
- Oversees the design and process of professional development plans by district and schools, including the vetting and posting procedures, meeting timelines, generating reports, and using continuous improvement processes.
- Ensures the design and use of quantitative and qualitative data analyses in the planning and evaluation of all professional development sessions.

Maintains the
- Support facilitators with on-going development of adult learning knowledge and skills to meet the differentiated needs for schools and staff.
- Design and deliver professional development sessions.
- Implement federal, state, local laws and GRPS Board of Education policies with professional development activities.

Communication
- Communicate the vision, goals, plans, and progress of GRPS’ professional learning.
- Generate reports that inform and assess the professional learning activities of the district.
- Develop and coordinate a professional development calendar, website, online resources, and catalogue in collaboration with other Organizational Learning and district staff.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Three years or more of successful leadership roles at various levels within a district
- Highly effective facilitator of adult professional learning
- Knowledgeable of contemporary technologies and effectively integrates it into the teaching and learning cycle.
- Possesses effective culturally effective communication skills.
