Wichita Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Math Intervention Teacher

Location: Marshall Middle School

Position Function: Responsible to the Building Principal for assisting with the coordination and implementation of all aspects of the school-wide program.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists the Principal with the development and revision of the school-wide improvement plan
- Provides instructional leadership and results based staff development focused on meeting the goals of the school-wide program and comprehensive school reform
- Assists teachers with individual and/or team development through demonstration lesions, introduction of new materials, programs and ideas, modeling of effective teaching strategies, coaching, team teaching and assisting with individual and/or team planning
- Assists with identifying staff development needs, planning and implementing in-service activities, modeling, teaming and coaching
- Assists in identifying, acquiring and organizing available resources
- Assists teachers in accessing district resources
- Identifies and communicates to classroom teachers effective teaching strategies to meet the educational needs of the students
- Supports school-wide parent involvement goals through planning and assisting with parent activities focused on increasing student achievement, parent/school compacts and parent involvement agreements
- Performs other duties as assigned to insure the success of the school-wide professional development program and increased student achievement

Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards: Must be able to walk long distances, respond rapidly in emergency situations, stand for long periods of time, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps, reach overhead, lift, push, pull up to 20 pounds or more with assistance, work five days a week, up to seven hours or more per day, or as assigned.

Equipment: Must be able to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. As well as instructional technology (Smart-boards, clickers, etc.).

Travel: Limited travel may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Background knowledge and experience in teaching elementary students.
- Familiar with District standards and assessments.
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Exhibit a professional manner to all customers.
- Ability to prioritize and organize.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks.
- Ability to change assignments on short notice.
- Ability to perform under deadline and work in a calm and efficient manner.
- Ability to work in a positive and cooperative manner with others in the workplace.

Interrelations: Heavy contact with staff and students. Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy. Must exhibit a professional manner and maintain a positive attitude with all students and colleagues.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
• In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
• Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator.
• All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position.

Qualification Profile:
- KS License Teaching license
- 3 to 5 years of teaching experience preferred

FSLA Status: Exempt

Department Specifics: Secondary Math endorsement required
