Wichita Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Temp Aide - Community Based Instruction (CBI) (Non-benefited)

Location: Sowers Alternative High School

Reports to: Job Coach Instructor (Classroom Teacher) Building Administrator

Job Summary: The Special Education Job Coaches will assist the teacher with educational activities in the classroom and on the job site. The Job Coach assists in carrying out the program developed by the Special Education professional(s) and support personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Works with small groups or individual students at community-based work sites without the teacher present. Works with small groups or individual students in teacher-planned instructional activities (i.e., job seeking and keeping skills).
2. Assists teacher in developing and revising individual training plans for community instruction. Implements those student training plans.
3. Trains students on the job using a variety of instructional methods (i.e., demonstration, modeling physical and verbal prompting, etc.). NOTE: At times the Job Coach may be required to complete a large portion of the job for the student.
4. Transport students to job interview and job sites, using personal car (school district will reimburse mileage).
5. Completes work evaluations and interprets to students.
6. Works directly with employers to maintain good relations between the school district and business community.
7. Locates and develops training stations within the community.
8. Collects and records instructional and behavioral data as requested by the teacher. Implements behavior management programs and handles routine discipline.
9. Prepares and copies instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
10. Records information for reports, types worksheets and reports as directed by the teacher.
11. Make charts, bulletin boards and other visual material.
12. Assists students in caring for personal needs as appropriate.
13. Performs other duties assigned by the teacher or building administrator.

High School Diploma or GED
1 year of related experience preferred
