Wichita Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Temporary Aide - Childcare Worker (Babysitter)

Location: Unassigned

Job Summary: The role of Temporary Aide - Childcare Worker is to provide oversight to children whose families attend the following school-based activities: events and initiatives that are included in the school’s Family Engagement Action Plan, parent organization and/or Site Council meetings and Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Attend an annual District childcare orientation
- Be trained in First Aid/CPR techniques to better ensure children’s safety. Workers will have 60-90 days upon hiring to successfully complete First Aid/CPR certification training
- Use positive behavior supports to emphasize acceptable and safe behavior of children while in childcare Striking children is not acceptable and will result in termination
- Oversee parents signing their children in and out of childcare
- Actively engage with students in positive structured activities while children are in the worker’s care
- Return children who are uncontrollable (i.e. continuous crying or the difficult to handle) to their parents
- Wash hands for at least 30 seconds using warm and soapy water before and after changing a diaper
- Return toys and supplies in their proper places and disinfect as necessary
- Produce and submit written reports using the Child Care Incident Report form in cases of injury or illness while children are in the worker’s care
- Complete and submit their payroll forms following the District’s payroll calendar and sign-in sheets to the Family Engagement Office at 201 N. Water Street, Wichita, KS 67202. Forms may be submitted by U.S. mail, Interschool mail to the attention of the Family Engagement Office, Fax to the current Family Engagement Office Number or delivered to the childcare timecard basket in the Alvin E. Morris Administrative Building lobby, 201 N. Water
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid registrations by seeking and paying for their own recertification training

Additional Duties: Assist with additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Equipment: The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259’s guidelines for equipment use.

Travel: Occasional travel between schools in and out of the district as well as to central offices may be required.

- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
- Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks
- Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
- Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position

Qualification Profile:
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
