Kansas City Kansas Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Community Engagement Educator (New Position)

Location: TBD

Job Goal: Serve as the primary liaison and educator to neighborhood organizations and community groups to facilitate knowledge and understanding of current programs, initiatives and practices, resulting in support of the vision, mission, and essential goal of the school district.

Essential Functions:
- Actively apply awareness and knowledge of Improvement and Strategic Plans and general district operations in order to educate members of the community through daily interactions, meeting and scheduled classes.
- Serves as a certified educator for the community and key stakeholders by providing in-depth content surrounding Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools District Continuous Improvement Plan.
- Enhance and maintain strong relationships with neighborhood organizations and community groups to continually increase support of district priorities and programs through concerted networking efforts and defined educational opportunities.
- Plan and lead focus groups and discussion circles, field-based experiences, and school visits with external stakeholders focused on advancing understanding of the District Continuous Improvement and Strategic Plans.
- Establish, lead, and maintain Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Citizens Academy to provide instructional based content surrounding, but not limited to, district goals, student learning, specialized programs, and general district information to increase knowledge and engagement of community members.
- Maintain knowledge of all aspects of the districtís operations, and communicates all aspects of the District Continuous Improvement Plan, school finance, tax policy, and budget development to community groups in order to promote understanding and awareness.
- Proactively establish action items in response to data results and present finding with internal and external partners.
- Spearhead communication with the Family and Community Liaisons working directly within the school setting in order to ensure alignment and foster continued partnerships.
- Collaborate with department leaders, including but limited to, Migrant Family Service Workers, and English Language Learners to enhance community engagement in support of immigrant families.
- Provide consistent, timely and accurate data/information to the Communications and Marketing Department in order to enhance communication and engagement of external stakeholders.
- Participate in professional growth and development activities including staff meetings, in-service, and staff development activities as required or assigned.

- Meets the employment qualifications set forth by the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education.
- Kansas teaching certificate in education
- English as a Second Language endorsement preferred
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills
- Working knowledge of neighborhood groups and community advocacy organizations within Wyandotte County
- Strong facilitation and team-building skills
- Demonstrated experience in community outreach
- Demonstrated skill in working with community groups, governmental organizations and a wide-range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated skills in development of strategic plans and data collection to gauge impact
- Ability to work with non-standard, flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Language Skills: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
