Indianapolis Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Physical Therapist

Location or Department: Special Education

Summary: Provides therapy services primarily as directed by the student’s Individual Education Plan by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews physician's referral and student’s condition and medical records.

Conducts physical therapy evaluations for students who are referred.

Participates/Provides information to case conference committee as related to the physical therapy objectives and goals.

Works with students on motor deficits as designated in the Individual Educational Plan.

Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve educational benefit.

Charts student’s progress data following each session.

Instructs the school staff in the appropriate implementation of physical therapy objects needed to access educational programming.

Confers with school staff to obtain additional student information, suggest revisions in implementation and integrates physical therapy with other aspects of the student’s educational environment.

Maintains and issues equipment.

Provides adaptations for the student’s educational environment.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a public school system as a physical therapist.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Windows environment word processing software.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid Indiana Physical Therapist license.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
