Indianapolis Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Therapeutic Programs Coordinator

Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Therapeutic Programs Coordinator leads and manages the Off Campus Instruction (OCI) special education program and ROOTS (Reclaiming Our Opportunity to Succeed) for students at the elementary and secondary levels in Indianapolis Public Schools. This is a 12-month administrative position.

Essential Duties / and Responsibilities:
The Therapeutic Programs Coordinator oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of OCI and ROOTS teams to ensure effective special education services are provided to students to support student growth and achievement. The Therapeutic Programs Coordinator is specifically responsible for the following:

- Lead, manage, and collaborate with OCI and ROOTS staff to ensure that program initiatives are student-focused and aligned with the vision and goals of the special education department;
- Conceptualizes the broad goals of the programs and plans accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the programs with fidelity;
- Supervises and appraises the performance of OCI and ROOTS staff;
- Coordinates programming and the delivery of services for OCI and ROOTS students including the online learning instruction, therapeutic supports, and homebound services for students with special needs;
- Works collaboratively with principals, teachers, other department staff, and parents in the development of strong transitions and service plans for students attending OCI and ROOTS;
- Ensures that the IEP and related services are implemented as written for students on OCI and ROOTS;
- Evaluates student progress in the instructional program by means that include the on-going review of student growth, achievement, and behavioral data;
- Directs and maintains records on the materials, supplies and equipment, which are necessary to carry out the daily school routine;
- Interviews and makes recommendations to Human Resources related to OCI and ROOTS positions;
- Provides high-quality professional development that facilitate the professional growth of OCI, ROOTS, and other special education staff to enhance the quality of the instructional and therapeutic programs;
- Develops and consistently revisits OCI and ROOTS policies, procedures, and practices to ensure continuity services and foresight of issues;
- Communicates effectively, and in a timely manner, with parents and guardians of special needs students to address complaints, issues and concerns;
- Perform duties assigned by the Special Education Director.

This role provides privileged access to the inner workings of the IPS Special Education Department. The successful candidate will be discrete, high-energy, agile-minded, strategic, proactive, a direct communicator, highly-organized and committed to the vision and values of Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and the IPS Special Education Department. In addition, the following standards will generally define the successful incumbent:

- Masterís degree in Education or Education Leadership;
- Licensed Indiana Administrator;
- Working knowledge of federal and state special education laws (IDEA and Article 7), rules, and practices;
- Broad knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and methodology of special education and online learning;
- Broad knowledge of Indiana and IPS special education policies, procedures and programs;
- Ability to be creative in developing alternatives to meet the needs of the OCI and ROOTS programs;
- A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of actors;
- Excellent communication skills and strong analytical and writing capabilities;
- Close attention to detail coupled with the ability to exercise good judgment
- Strong organizational, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Proactive nature; able to anticipate conflicts before they arise;
- Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively;
- Ability to execute meetings, calls/emails/texts with professionalism, courtesy and accuracy;
- Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and diligence; and
- Ability to effectively allocate and prioritize time to several tasks to ensure completion of all.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: The IPS Therapeutic Programs Coordinator directly manages the implementation of all special education OCI and ROOTS supports, resources, and relationships with a studentís home school and parents including special education homebound services.

Personal Work Relationships: The individual in this position works with a wide range of IPS staff, administrators and service providers on routine and diverse problems encountered to fulfill its special education duties. The individual must possess and employ a variety of personal and interpersonal skills in the discharge of the positionís responsibilities. This position requires a positive attitude when dealing with staff and service providers. Good judgment, discretion and individual initiative are necessary for the effective discharge of the positionís significant responsibilities.
