Description:
Plan, organize, coordinate and implement the educational services, instructional resources, support functions and professional development activities in support of an assigned curriculum area; develop, analyze and oversee the implementation of FWCS curriculum in assigned area; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

Salary: $43252.00- $83177.00

1. Plan, organize, coordinate and implement the educational services, instructional resources, support functions and professional development activities in support of an assigned curriculum area; monitor, evaluate and adjust curricular activities in response to the instructional needs of schools and students; assist with general Department functions for the written, taught and tested District curriculum.

2. Coordinate activities and provide training and assistance to enhance faculty and administrative skills and understanding related to educational practices, instructional material guidelines and requirements, lesson plans, curriculum standards, assessment tools and instructional strategies related to assigned curriculum area.

3. Oversee and participate in the development and implementation of curriculum standards; test and evaluate curriculum in the field to determine educational effectiveness; adjust curriculum in response to effectiveness; lead FWCS in identifying and implementing benchmarked student achievement standards for curriculum in assigned area.

4. Monitor and evaluate school and classroom activities to assure instructional functions related to assigned area comply with established curriculum standards and requirements; assist schools with assuring instructional activities are aligned with established curriculum, assessment and accountability requirements.

5. Provide consultation and technical assistance to school faculty, administrators and others concerning assigned curriculum area; respond to inquiries and provide detailed and technical information concerning related services, standards, requirements, principles, practices, techniques, laws, codes, regulations, initiatives, policies and procedures.

6. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions.

7. Design, develop, implement and conduct professional development activities for faculty and administrators concerning assigned curriculum area as directed; prepare and deliver oral presentations and explain related principles, theories, standards, guidelines, requirements, practices, procedures and techniques.

8. Research, analyze and implement recommendations from international, national, State and local content area organizations concerning curriculum and instructional models; assist teachers with implementing curriculum standards and instructional strategies and selecting instructional materials.

9. Monitor and evaluate the educational effectiveness of assigned curriculum area; coordinate, develop and implement strategies and training activities to enhance educational effectiveness and student learning related to assigned curriculum area in FWCS.

10. Assist faculty and staff in the preparation and development of learning activities, instructional activities and lesson plans as needed; provide pacing recommendations for assigned content areas and assist schools and teachers in curriculum-mapping initiatives.

11. Develop, implement and monitor assessment system in State-tested content areas; lead District and school personnel in evaluating and utilizing assessment data in guiding instructional decisions and strategies.

12. Coordinate textbook adoption functions according to local and State processes for assigned content areas; oversee District-wide implementation of newly-adopted curriculum and materials for assigned content areas; assure FWCS instructional materials in assigned areas comply with established curriculum standards and requirements.

13. Serve as a liaison and coordinate communications, activities and information related to assigned curriculum area between FWCS administrators, faculty, personnel, schools, outside organizations and the public; establish, support, facilitate and maintain partnerships.

14. Provide technical support for approved curriculum development initiatives generated by schools in assigned content areas.

15. Participate in researching, obtaining and maintaining grants and other funding sources for assigned curriculum area; assist with implementing grants and assuring compliance with related requirements as directed.

16. Maintain current knowledge of educational methods, practices and standards related to assigned curriculum area and related laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures; assist schools with modifying services to assure compliance with standards and requirements.

17. Compile, review and analyze a variety of technical data and information related to assigned curriculum area; prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical records, reports and files related to curriculum areas, programs, evaluation and assigned activities.

18. Drive a vehicle to conduct work; visit sites and classrooms to monitor educational activities and provide guidance concerning assigned curriculum area.

19. Serve as a team member in the Curriculum Services department and provide support to school building personnel. Must demonstrate participation in and contributions to the goals of district cross functional teams.

20. Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.

While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is seated or walking at will and has limited physical labor.

Qualifications:
Must hold appropriate Indiana Administration and Supervision certification.

Must have five years teaching experience including work with curriculum development. Must have strong analytical, computer, and oral and written communication skills. Incumbents must possess advanced knowledge of curriculum standards and requirements, and the specialized aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned curricular area. Incumbents must possess valid Indiana Elementary Math licensure and valid Indiana driver's license.
