The Clinton Community School District is the 15th largest school district in Iowa with 4,755 students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. All attendance centers are accredited by the North Central Association. The district has 11 buildings which include seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and an alternative high school. The organizational structure provides for six year (K-5) elementary schools, three year (6-8) middle schools, and a four year (9-12) high school.

Located on the Mississippi River provides many recreational advantages as well as many advantages in attracting industry. Clinton's industrial base is made up of a large number of small to moderate companies along with 12 Forture 500 Companies. Much of the industry is agriculture or chemical related.
