Cedar Rapids Community Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

K-5 Social Studies Curriculum & Assessment Committee

Location: ELSC

Summary:
FIRST POSSIBLE HIRE DATE: Immediately
K-5 Social Studies Curriculum & Assessment Committee/K-5 Social Studies Curriculum Implementation Support Team

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Each committee member will be expected to be knowledgeable about Iowa Core Social Studies Standards and Social Studies instructional strategies aligned to Bringing History Home. * Each committee member will also be expected to be engaged in professional learning around instructional shifts as outlined in the Iowa Core and to assist in the creation of priority standard-aligned instructional materials, including assessments, units of study, and lessons. * The committee and implementation support team will meet December 4th and 5th at the ELSC as part of the Iowa Department of Education Social Studies Meeting. Additionally, the committee and support team will meet up to three more half days prior to the end of the school year. On those half days, meetings may stretch up to two hours beyond contract time with per diem pay for the time served. The Curriculum and Assessment team will also meet up to ten days during June. * The Curriculum Implementation Support Team and the Curriculum and Assessment Committee may also meet for one day in August. All summer work will be compensated at the per diem rate. * Each committee member will be expected to be actively engaged in the work and maintain positive relationships with other committee members. * The committee members will support and implement the district curriculum, standards, and benchmarks.

Qualifications: Certified and contracted Cedar Rapids Community School District Kindergarten through 6th grade teachers currently teaching (or assigned to teach in the 17-18 school year) K-5 social studies, 5 -8 social studies or secondary social studies courses already aligned to the Iowa Core.

Compensation:
Compensation for time beyond the contract and for summer work will be at the per diem rate.

Dates:
December 4th and 5th; 2018 meetings yet to be determined.
