The Kindezi School is a newly-approved K-8 charter school in the Atlanta Public Schools district designed to grow the whole child in classes of just six students. Slated to open in Southwest Atlanta in August of 2009, Kindezi is the first public charter school in the nation to employ budgetary reform that makes it possible to reduce class sizes so dramatically on a public school budget. The school's founding teachers will participate in an innovative, grass-roots school model focused on fully utilizing the tutorial method, differentiated instruction through project-based learning, and a focus on leadership and the arts. Teachers will be powerful stakeholders in the school through Kindezi's Teacher Professional Partnership, organized to include teachers in essential daily school administration and decision-making. The Kindezi School will serve 96 K-3 students in the 2009-10 school year, with an eventual capacity of 216 students, grades K-8.
