Mesa County Valley School District is seeking qualified applicant for the following position(s)

School Social Worker (part time or full time)

Location: Basil T Knight Center (BTK)

Description:
Consults and collaborates with administration, teachers, allied professionals, and families to serve as a resource for developing safe and accessible learning environments.

This employee fosters learning environments in which each student has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults and peers.

Working in concert with the school administration and school staff, the LSSW will employ integrated evidenced-based practices to identify, target, and meet the needs of students through counseling, replacement strategies, and interventions using individual or small group settings.

Conducts student assessments and evaluations within federal the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), state laws, the Exceptional Children Education Act (ECEA) and district, statutes, standards, and procedures and with a focus on home/school/community assimilation and access to the general education curriculum, and progress toward the studentís Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.

Using multiple sources of data, analysis of results will be used to make recommendations to building staff concerning students daily and long term interventions, goals, and plan. In addition, the LSSW provides students ways to build upon their individual strengths and offers them opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience.

LSSW will also attend and facilitate in (IEP) eligibility meetings in accordance with individual student plans. Employee must demonstrate a strong foundation and knowledge base regarding special education eligibility especially regarding the determination process and criteria for all educational disabilities under IDEA/ECEA.

Position holds an expectation to include a portion of time spent with parents and staff to appropriately convey student assessment data information and the IEP.

The School Social Worker implements, monitors and modifies interventions to maximize the studentís potential to achieve established goals.

LSSW may also participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) meetings at the building level providing a technical expertise to teachers and building administrators.

LSSW guides individual intervention and support plans in collaboration with teachers and building leaders making adjustments as needed.

In addition and as requested the LSSW conducts Functional Behavior Assessments and develops Behavior Intervention Plans for identified students.

Employee is expected to manage documentation of professional services and intervention plans in designated software system.

Documentation requirements are guided by School District 51, federal and state laws, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

While daily case notes are used directly for the benefit of the student; they also provide support for the Medicaid billing/reimbursement processes, legal requirements, CDE requirements, and are held to the professional standards established by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

Expectations include measuring, defining, and quantifying program effectiveness through analysis of data and observation.

A timely submission of all case notes, IEP updates and reports will also document time spent working on and progression in accomplishing established goals.

As requested/required LSSW will formulate and report service provision information and demographics to accommodate reporting needs and funding requirements.

The responsibilities of this position include an expectation of consultation and collaboration with administration, teachers, allied professionals and families to identify and set priorities for service and functional outcome plans.

The LSSW is often the coordinator of these services. Other collaborative activities may include providing education as in-service and/or provide materials to school staff, parents and/or community members to enhance knowledge and functionality.

The LSSW may also develop presentations for training of teachers, administrators, parents, and the community in a wide spectrum of disorders and educational issues.

Job Summary:
Working under the general direction of the Student Services Coordinator the Licensed School Social Worker (LSSW) is responsible for providing an array of services that advance the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community and cultural differences on student success.

Through the implementation of effective intervention strategies at the assigned school the LSSW provides services reflecting the reciprocal nature of home, school, and community influences on student achievement and with consideration given to their unique developmental and intrinsic qualities.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

Master Degree in Social Work or related field*
Currently have or be eligible for appropriate Colorado Education Special Service Provider License,
Minimum of five yearsí prior experience in school environment, IEP development, counseling and/or therapy.

*Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check required for hire,
Valid Colorado driverís license,
Valid Colorado Department of Education license with School Social Worker endorsement;
Must hold or be able to hold within one year, one of the DORA professional licenses listed below:

Colorado-Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC);
Colorado-Licensed School Social Worker (LSSW);
Colorado-Licensed Social Worker (SW) (Masterís Level);
Colorado-Licensed Clinical Social Worker (SW) (Masterís Level).
