Aspen School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):
Music Teacher
Location: Aspen High School
Job Description:
This teacher instructs classes in instrumental music and music theory so students develop individual and group performance skills in music literacy and technique. The assignment is a 1.0 FTE at the high school level.
Requirements: Candidates must possess, or be able to obtain within the first 3 months of hire, a current initial, alternative, or professional Colorado teaching license with an endorsement in music.
Responsible to: High School Building Principal
Assigned Responsibilities:
- Conducts rehearsals and performances demonstrating understanding of differences in style among various types of music.
- Presents performances of high musical quality for the school and community in which groups are well-disciplined and make a good appearance.
- Uses music of high quality in a variety of types and styles.
- Builds and maintains a program that attracts and holds at least enough students to perform standard literature at the assigned level with a characteristic ensemble sound and balance of parts
- Collaborates with other District music instructors to ensure continuity in enrollment from elementary through middle and high school.
- In collaboration with other District music instructors, designs or selects and uses planned sequences of instruction for the development of instrumental technique and music reading so the students acquire the prerequisite skills for the succeeding levels of instruction.
- Identifies, diagnoses, and prescribes remediation for problems in individual and group vocal technique.
- Matches activities and materials to individual and group skills and needs.
- Ensures instructional activities and materials are clearly related to District, school, and departmental goals and objectives.
- Conducts interesting and well-paced classes using a variety of instructional techniques and materials appropriate to the lesson.
- Assesses, keeps track of, and provides feedback promptly and appropriately to students on their progress and assignments.
- Ensures that instruments and equipment are properly used, maintained, and stored, and that inventory records are accurate and current.
- Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with building administrators and staff, cooperating to resolve problems in a professional manner so that the concerns of all schedules and parties are considered.
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities, including any experiential education activities as the assignment may require.
- Participates cooperatively with school and district-wide programs, professional development, and other activities.
- Follows standards, policies, and procedures of the buildings and the Aspen School District.
Primary Location: Aspen High School
Salary Range: $42,000.00 - $51,000.00 / Salary
