Charles Armstrong School is looking for a long term full time Lower School Substitute Physical Education Teacher.

Position description:
To teach Physical Education to Lower School students with proven skills and experience and to educate students in the areas of health, leadership, teamwork and other social-emotional skills.

Primary Responsibilities:
Ability to follow and create lesson plans
Teach developmentally appropriate classes in a safe and nurturing environment
Teaching cooperative games and lead up skills for traditional sports
Provide meaningful feedback to students about their skill development
Assess student progress, maintaining specific and accurate records
Prepare for and clean up after class activities and in shared teaching spaces
Attend to the social and emotional needs of the students
Care and store all equipment
Coordinate with classroom teachers regarding individual students
Set behavioral expectations and hold students accountable
Communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding students
Consistently work to update curriculum with best practices
Communicate with department members regarding shared classes
Organize games and challenges that promote physical activity
Develop motor skills and physical and mental development
Must have strong speaking and listening skills
Prior knowledge of dyslexic/ADHD/ADD students is a bonus

Education, Certifications, and Work Related Experience:
Required

Bachelor of Arts degree
Teaching Credential
Prior teaching experience preferred
First AID training
Willingness to work in a collaborative, team teaching environment
Kind and compassionate, encouraging and supportive attitude
Prior knowledge of language based learning differences
