Our program is based on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, which assumes that every child is a unique individual who is naturally driven to grow, develop and learn. We also emphasize nature and grow a garden in our back yard. Physical activities are a big part of the curriculum, therefore we have weekly gymnastics classes, and our playground is designed to move, jump, ride and climb.
Children in the classroom are grouped in mixed ages and abilities. There is constant interaction, problem solving, child to child teaching, and socialization. The mixed-age aspect encourages older children to help the younger children, which helps build their self-esteem while younger children are being stimulated by watching the more advanced work of the older children. Therefore, everyone is challenged according to their ability and never bored.
