BASRC seeks to transform schools across the Bay Area into vital places to learn and to teach. We work with education leaders in both schools and districts to develop, assess and use the knowledge needed for schools to engage in a systematic and sustainable improvement process. BASRC aims to help create a future in which all students learn to high levels and where race, class, language, gender, and culture are no longer good predictors of educational outcomes.
The 2001-2006 Vision
We view the vision that guides our work as a series of fully integrated principles, none of which stands alone.
Who We Are
Welcome to the Bay Area School Reform Collaborative (BASRC)! We are a foundation-funded, vision-driven, regional non-profit organization whose mission is to firmly establish the Bay Area as a vital, innovative and effective place to learn and teach. Across the region, we help schools and districts engage in a comprehensive transformation process to become thoughtful, caring communities with a common purpose and a commitment to the growth and learning of all children and adults. BASRC aims to help create a future in which all students learn to high levels and where race, class, language, gender, and culture are no longer good predictors of educational outcomes.
A shared vision—or set of integrated principles—guides our work. It's a vision of students held to high expectations and engaged in a rich and active curriculum. It's a vision of teachers linked to a community of colleagues who are committed to children and to their own learning. It's a vision of schools joined by parents and the community to support student learning, and it's a vision of districts who examine the effectiveness of their strategies and work constantly to better support schools.
