Little Rock School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Counselor (FTE .50)

Location: Stephens Elementary

1. A masterís degree in counseling or willing to pursue an additional licensure program in Counseling.
2. Arkansas certification in Guidance & Counseling P-8.
3. At least five (5) yearsí experience as a teacher and/or counselor.
4. Evidence of strong planning, organizational and leadership qualities.
5. Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.

Reports To: Principal

Job Goal: To develop, implement and evaluate a building level guidance program that meets the developmental needs of students served.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides leadership in developing, implementing and evaluating a building level guidance plan that is based on the needs and characteristics of the student population served.
2. Participates in creating an environment conducive to the learning and growth of all children.
3. Helps the child to grow in self-understanding and in positive maximum use of his/her potential.
4. Assists parents and school staff in understanding the developmental needs of all students, and works with parents and staff in meeting the individual needs of children in the school environment.
5. Formulates, clarifies, and interprets the goals and objectives of the school counseling program to pupils, building staff, parents and the community.
6. Makes home visits for the purpose of gathering pertinent background information and to facilitate effective communication between the home and the school.
7.. Promotes effective utilization of school and community resources in program development and implementation.
8. Assists students, staff and parents in interpreting and using pertinent information relating to the educational and psychosocial needs of pupils.
9. Participates in curriculum development and change.
10. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Terms of Employment:
Salary based on a teacherís nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract, (FTE.50) FLSA: Exempt NOTE: Precise placement on the salary range will be determined based upon experience and education.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boardís Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
