Little Rock School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Special Education (Social Studies, English, Science) Teacher

Location: McClellan Magnet High

1. Minimum of a Bachelorís degree.
2. Current Arkansas certification in Special Education 7-12 with Arkansas qualified Status in SS, English and Science.
3. Certification in 7-12 preferred. Evidence of successful experience in working with students at risk.
4. Evidence of ability to work well with others.
5. Experience in implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training.
6. Evidence of strong writing and organizational skills.
7. Evidence of ability to implement Individual Education Plans.
8. Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.

Job Goal: To develop, instruct, and collect data on students in the areas of education, behavior, and social skills to reintegrate them to a public school campus.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Serves as a member of the educational management team.
- Implements individual educational goals and objectives.
- Collects data on studentsí progress.
- Meets with classes as assigned.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administration regulation.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Performs other duties as the principal/supervisor may, from time to time, assign.

Terms of Employment:
Teacher - Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus benefit package.

NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: Exempt

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boardís Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
