Shelby County Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Secretary (Human Resources)

Location: Human Resources

Starting Date: Immediately

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Demonstrated proficiency in use of computer software
3. Minimum of one (1) year computer experience required
4. Experience in filing and record-keeping
5. Competence in the use of business equipment
6. Effective telephone skills
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports To: Designated Department Supervisor
Office Manager

Job Goal: To assist in insuring maximum effectiveness in the operation of the offices of the Board of Education

Essential Functions:
1. Expected work day: Eight (8) hours.
2. Regular and punctual attendance required.
3. Provide clerical support for department staff as requested.
4. Provide clerical support for department programs as assigned.
5. Possess skills necessary to perform tasks assigned.
6. Use copy machine and other business equipment.
7. Keep statistical records as required.
8. File alphabetic, subject, numeric, and geographic as assigned.
9. Operate telephone for incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls when requested.
10. Compile and type statistical and written reports as requested.
11. Assist with the preparation of purchase orders as assigned.
12. Compose and type letters of transmittal and routine letters of inquiry, requests, and information as requested.
13. Maintain equipment and assist with inventory as requested.
14. Type from straight copy/rough draft and enter data.
15. Meet and assist visitors in a helpful, courteous, and professional manner.
16. Maintain the confidentiality of any school system related information and sensitive employee information.
17. Maintain proper and professional relationship with other employees.
18. Perform duties in a manner that promotes good public relations.
19. Follow Board policies.
20. Possess visual acuity.
21. Possess physical capability to stand, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
22. Possess physical and emotional ability and dexterity as needed to perform required work in a fast-paced, high intensive work environment.

Marginal Functions: Any other reasonable office related tasks assigned by supervisors.

Terms of Employment: Twelve Month contract. Salary according to Appropriate current salary schedule for Secretary I. NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Support personnel evaluation system and Board policy.
